I found a headstone with David Hickey in Ballyduff. The right Hickey, the right Ballyduff??? Today we visited Ballyduff village. We searched a graveyard at St Michael's church. We found an old headstone with "David Hickey" inscribed. See the photos below. The headstone is very old, probably not James Hickey's father, but perhaps an ancestor. We also saw a headstone for a "Burgess". We thought we were in East Ballyduff, but Apple tagged the photo with a location of West Ballyduff, so maybe we weren't actually in the right place.

I met a woman in Tubber, Ireland on Saturday who I may be related to. Her grandfather was a Pat Connors from Faha, who was possibly the brother ( or maybe nephew) of my grandmother Mary Connors. I probably should have gotten her name or taken a photo, but I spaced it and forgot to ask. That's the short story, long story below. We spent Saturday in County Clare. In addition to sightseeing (Dungaire Castle, the Burren, Cliffs of Moher) , we tried to squeeze in a bit of searching for ancestors. We started by trying to find Faha on a rainy afternoon. The paper map for the Burren had an overlook for Fahy. We tried to find it with Google Maps on our cell phones in an area with limited coverage. I realized here here we really should have insisted on a rental car with a GPS - the agent claimed they didn't have any. After lots of driving in the rain in a very rural area, we stopped at a small store in a crossroads called Tubber. I asked the shop keeper if he knew how to get to Faha. I mentioned my grandmother Mary Connors was born there. It turns out there was a woman in the store or in the bar next door who was a Connors from Faha, a likely relative. The man wrote out some detailed directions to find Faha, but we got lost again trying to find it. Later in the afternoon, we went looking for Cunninghams. We found the cemetery in Kilmihil ( noticed the archangel statue while driving through) but could not find the great grandparents tombstone. We drove by Knockalough, but could not find the house from the picture. Tomorrow we will try to find Ballyduff East in Waterford where the Hickeys are from.
I have made quite a few additions to the website in the last few weeks. I think I need to take a break for a while.
This is first pass at searching and documenting here my Irish heritage. Comments, corrections are welcome. Not sure where I will go from here.
